The BFA U10, U12 Boys, U14 Boys and U14 Girls travelled to Erie, Pennsylvania for a Great Lakes Alliance Soccer Event. Teams from Rochester, Buffalo, Erie, Cleveland and Pittsburgh all took part. The BFA U10 team won all three games playing against teams from Erie, Pittsburgh and the newly formed Empire Academy. The U12 Boys lost three close games to Pittsburgh teams. The U14 Boys team also lost three close games to Pittsburgh teams. The U14 Girls lost their three games to Pittsburgh and Erie teams. This was a great experience for the players and showed the coaching staff how far the players have come in their development since January.

BFA friendlies against varsity teams

The BFA U18 Boys team played two exhibition games against Ontario University opposition at the end of August. They lost to the U of T Blues 2-0 at Varsity Stadium and tied the UWO Mustangs 2-2 in London at the TD Waterhouse Stadium. The BFA team is the top team in SAAC this year, dominating every team they play and needed to get outside competition against older players. They played exceptionally well against both OUA teams. Great summer for Bryst athletes!

The Bryst Summer Camp Program for 2008 was an outstanding success with over 500 athletes attending camps in 6 locations. The highlight of the summer was the week of camp with the two Brazilian coaches from Cruzeiro FC and the three English coaches from Burnley FC and Blackburn FC. Several players have been identified for follow-up trials with those international clubs.

Bryst just returned from Fiuggi, Italy with 3 of their Academy teams. The U18 boys, U18 girls and U15 boys played three games each against Italian club opposition. These clubs included Roma FC, Lazio FC and Frosinone FC. The trip was a tremendous success and a great experience for all of the 100 participants on the trip.

On Sunday, August 24, 2008, Bryst International embarked on a 9-day tour with three of the BFA Teams to Fiuggi, Italy. The tour was designed to provide the Canadian players with an opportunity to test their skills against Italian opposition that represented the Football Clubs from Rome and the surrounding communities.

The whole group left Fiuggi in the morning for Rome to see the Serie A game in the Stadio Olimpico between Roma and Napoli. This was a hard fought game that ended in a 1-1 draw. The main event was the fan violence outside of the stadium with the Napoli fans.

We would like to thank all of the parents and siblings that accompanied the three teams on the trip for their support.
